MY ROOM

Locked away in my cocoon. A world transfixed on what lies beneath. Words unsaid, stories untold, lies untruthed. It is only in my mental sanctuary I am able to diffuse the madness of life. A sense of discovery, purpose, and spirituality. Among the most confusion comes  the most clarity.

…this is truly inspiring

PERENNIAL MUSE| Tilda Swinton

Tilda, Tilda, Tilda. Every time I set eyes on her, I am transported to zenith. She is the climax, the high-note, the epitome of  style.   She is a woman of undeniable perspective and undeniable intrigue. Her latest W spread and cover is all that dreams are made of….well my dreams at least.

MY BLACK CHRISTMAS

Christmas. A day that commemorates the birth of the world’s most beloved being, God. Well, when it comes to earthly beings, what’s more loved than men. Masculinity, rage, stout physiques, and well the other main component missing from the list. With style there is such a glass ceiling that exist. A man can’t wear this or that. That makes him gay, to metro, or feminine. All labels that restrict what defines a man and a highly demonstrated form of universal mind control. So upon seeing this image I saw what defines a man- boldness.

There needs to be a birth of a new species of man, not afraid and daring to just be. Fashion in this sense has long been ahead of its time

…and who wouldn’t want to wear a plaid onesie

STYLE VANITY| Paris Beat

Style is often confused with fashion and this ‘look’ that is validated by individuals who have achieved the look. I wholeheartedly disagree and see style as not a look or a trend, but a perspective and a voice.

AN IMAGE + A MOMENT| Tyra Banks

I call one of my favorite eras in fashion Extravaganza Eleganza (As taken from RuPaul). There was a ‘more is more’ motif, ultra-glamorized, and  exaggerated lifestyle shown through the clothing of the 80′s and early 90′s that is not seen in today’s fashion. It is much more cynical and and less adventurous. Nonetheless I prefer a mixture of the light and dark.  While on the subject of what I like, vintage shots of Tyra doing what she does best is on the list, for obvious reasons.

COUTURE VISION

Evident by their consistent presence on Sound On Mars, Givenchy continues to  amaze me.  Riccardo Tisci constantly evolves as not just a designer, but an artist. With each collection,  Tisci further cements the brilliance that is Givenchy.

THE LION KING

Now this is what I call ferocious- Givenchy’s Fall ad campaign.  I love the fact that the background is such a contrast from the roar….literally.

MARY THE ROW

The twins as we once knew are now full-fledged titans in the world of fashion for obvious reasons. I think what they have accomplished is nothing short of amazing, both individually and collectively.  The Row is undoubtedly among the more adored  lines to emerge in recent years. That said, I find Mary-Kate and Ashley to be as intriguing as their designs.

Such dreamy photos…

INTRIGUE| Vuitton

INTRIGUE. A character-defining trait. Some individuals are intriguing for their style, others for  their personality, and some for their mystique. Simply put, you either have it or you don’t. Insert Vuitton, a blogger for one of,  if not, the biggest fashion sites catering to an African-American audience–a demographic largely overlooked by the fashion industry. As an avid reader of the Fashion Bomb Daily, I often find the individuals behind a blog more intriguing than what they post.

With this feature, we hope to bring you a new perspective, and go behind the smoke and mirrors of an individual. Thankfully, Vuitton has granted us access.

LAVISH LUXURY

80′s and  90′s extravagance is somewhat of an obsession for me. It’s gone and its never coming back, but I miss it oh so much.  There was such an opulence and more is more motif that electrified the universe – mines especially. ‘This picture is really worth a million words.
