For quite some time, there has been mounting buzz surrounding Kendrick Lamar‘s name. Though I’ve always been intrigued by his talent, I must admit that I have been a bit slow with actually exploring it. After devouring the perfection of his new single, “Swimming Pools (Drank),” I have experienced another piece of why Kendrick Lamar has become one of hip-hop’s brightest shining rising stars.

On “Swimming Pools,” Kendrick’s insane play with multiple flows and personalities beam through T-Minus’ sublime production, presenting a true lyricist that is not only engaging, but unique as well. As the track kicks off the official countdown to Kendrick’s album, good kid, m.A.A.d city, I can finally say that Kendrick has commanded my full attention.
