Lykke Li|Unplugged

It is music that has  power to change the world. Behind  true music is creative and intellectual greatness. Not just words but a declarative  message that penetrates something internal. Not just sounds but syncopating rhythms that speak to the soul. When I think of Lykke Li, this is what comes to mind. She is music, she is art, she is infinite. If her latest LP, Wounded Rhymes is any indication, Lykke Li is sure to soar to new heights with each project. Its artist like her who I wish dropped an LP every year.

With that said, her MTV Unplugged Session is a must see.

Soul effects an emotion and this woman’s music hit’s the spot. Watch HERE

She Who Runs The World

Beyonce’s back and the music is not worthy of as A.Jamar explained. Though her music struck a bad note, this look however has not. Beyonce was posing it up in Paris while wearing this breathtaking GUCCI F/W 11‘ creation. She still runs the world.

A MODERN MYTH

30 Seconds to Mars is one of my favorite bands for sooooo many reasons. Their lyrics hit like bullets, their production sounds like heaven, and Jared Leto’s voice is so haunting and honest.  Their music takes me away.

STAR|VANITY

So STAR VANITY is a feature where I usually spotlight a famous persons style or something that  caught my eye. However, as my love for photography strengthens I want to show more than just style, but stars in their element. I love candid shots of people because they are so telling.

SUPREME|BEING

Some people are meant to be average and others are meant to be anything but.  Ever since I can remember, I’ve never felt like the average someone. There more to life, there’s more to living, there’s more to me. To strive for greatness is what separates those who experience life from those who just exist through life.  We’re only her but for a second, I want to leave my mark.

I know I’m not the only who finds beauty in imperfections. In this case the imperfection is scars. While on this journey of life, one is bound to get broken, battered, and scarred. I’ll call them battle wounds.

TATOOED

Such a well-executed display of body art and accessories. I often find that tattoos are a perfect way to discover someones inner self.  Accessories are a perfect way to embellish whats already present- style.

LIVING LEGEND

Without a doubt, “Don’t You Remember” is one of  21‘s most breathtaking moments. Adele‘s chilling vocals paints heartbreak with vibrant color and flawless strokes of lyrical truth. With its gorgeous country-tinged musical accompaniment, the track once again why Adele consistency pushes herself to new heights with every  expression of her gifts and creativity. Adele is a blessing that we are all fortunate enough to experience. Continue to breathe her in.

WICKED SUNDAY

I don’t know much about the growingly  popular The Weeknd, but “Wicked Games” is one of those songs that sticks to you–you don’t know where it comes from, how to describe it or what to call it–it just commands all of your attention. It’s so bad-ass, so blunt, so ice-cold. Its lethal combination of enticing elements speak to the morbidity in all of us and make it difficult to turn away.

I’m certain The Weeknd will return to  future posts as I unwrap the sounds of his debut mixtape, House of Balloons. Until then, press play to feel the chill.

SOUL. Personified.

As a surprise for the audience at his L.A. show over the weekend, Prince invited the lovely Alicia Keys to join him in a splendid duet of his classic “How Come You Don’t Call Me Anymore?”–a song she covered on her breakthrough solo LP.

It may not be more than a couple of minutes, but Prince and Ms. Keys certainly bring out the best in each other. More importantly, we witnessed the return of the AK that dropped our jaws during the glory of her earlier works. Am I the only one left with wanting more?

Anticipation builds for the new album…

BORN FREE

With just one simple glance, its evident that this chick is fearless. While many of us run away from our freedom, Maya always speaks from hers. Never one to hold back from intimidation, M.I.A. consistently reveals her truth.  Some may call her a rebel, others may cause her attention-loving provocateur. In my world, she’s a hero.

CHRIS TURNER| LOVEChild

At last! The day has come that the R&B Gods have delivered a replenishment to the demolished current state of the genre. Chris Turner has been making his way around music blogs all over the net with his sweet and soulful sounds of his voice. As one of the brightest-shining acts to emerge this year, he does not attempt to mimic the past nor does he dilute to comply with the present. He does R&B -soul his way and its enough to end the drought.

For The Love Of Music…

When Jazmine Sullivan made the heartbreaking announcement that she would be departing the industry, I did not know her absence would be this dramatic. It’s a rarity to find true artists these days–those inspired by the tears we cry everyday, the stories that are anthems for our lives and the moments we relive everytime we get lost in the music. Adele can’t do it by herself. Here’s hoping the break will end sooner than we expect…

REVIEW| “Run The World (Girls)”- Beyoncé

After blasting the “comeback” single from the one-and-only Beyoncé for nearly 24 hours straight, I was ready to flip the birdie to the haters and write a pleasant review celebrating the magic of the woman we have crowned queen. But all changed when I decided to give Major Laser’s “Pon De Floor” a listen. I knew “Run The World” sampled “Pon De Floor,” but I did not realize that the production is damn-near identical (don’t judge me for not having heard “Pon De Floor” in its entirety up until this point), which completely altered my perspective on what I felt about the song.
