ONE OF KANYE’S BEST.

While Nicki Minaj’s debut Pink Friday has plenty of skippable moments, there are those worth mentioning. Of the album’s select high points is “Blazin’,” with much help from one of the best featured verses Mr. West has created in a while. Full of witty metaphors and entertainingly egocentric shit-talking, the cameo reinforces why the masses love to hate Kanye West.

MALUCA MALA.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I love this woman. Not only for the music but because she does her thing without giving a shit or apologizing for it. Perhaps that’s why China Food still gets heavy play on my iPod, despite all of the months that have passed since its release.

If you have not been acquainted with Maluca yet, sleep no more.

YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE.

To be completely honest, I am not the biggest Jessie J fan in the world. However, after a friend played her self-empowerment anthem “Who You Are,” I could not leave it alone. With her impressive vocal chops, Jessie belts it out like the rest of them and provides listeners with something that mainstream music rarely possesses–a message.

VIDEO| Lykke Takes Us To The Moon…

I am in deep love affair with “I Follow Rivers” and I don’t think there is anything out there that can break me from my spell. In fact, it seems to strengthen with time, especially with moments like this.

Lykke Li performed a stunning, stripped down rendition of the song on “The Moon” and it will surely take you to another galaxy.

Who Are You Now?

A leftover track from Lupe Fiasco‘s latest album, Lasers, has leaked and it’s enough to make you question why it didn’t make the final cut. Lupe and B.O.B. lend their lyrical prowess to denouncing young women’s desire to conform to societal norms and encourages them to explore their individuality and self-worth instead. Not only does it encompass a powerful message but both Lupe and B.O.B.’s level of talent and  lyrical ability expression continues to blow me away.

FIRE TO THE RAIN

Even though Adele’s 21 is untouchable, up and coming rapper Gilbert Forte adds his two cents to the moody power ballad “Set Fire To The Rain”–and it should not go without notice. His smooth and poetic flow convey the profound emotion behind the lyrics flawlessly and, ultimately matches all of the heights that the original reached. Definitely one to keep on replay…

ELIZABETH TAYLOR

I had no idea of how beautiful and influential she was in the world. After watching a few specials and seeing many screen shots from her films I was left breathless.  Her violet-blue eyes, sensuality, and glamour made her an icon. Her talent made her a star. Her heart made her an inspiration.

What a beauty. What a woman. What a legend.

As we all know, Japan has recently been struck by an awful Hurricane. There is so much talent, art, and creativity there, I wanted to spotlight my favorite Japanese designers and show the best of Japan while they experience the worst.

EDITORIAL| S&M

The leather straps, refined pieces, and overall S&M feel of the spread  is so visually stimulating and cinematic, it really captures the art and genius of fashion photography. Abby Lee’s incredibly piercing eyes don’t hurt either.

Jill Scott Returns…

Aaahhhh. As if the wait hasn’t been long enough, soulful songstress Jill Scott is prepping her return to the music world with her new album, The Light Of The Sun. While on the set of the video for the  album’s first single, “Shame,” Jilly invited CNN to her original stomping grounds of Philadelphia for some behind the scenes chit-chat about the video and her hometown pride. Also peep a cameo from fellow Philly native Eve.

It’s been a long time coming…
