When you think about some of the most soulful singers that we’ve seen over the past couple of years, it would be foolish to exclude British singers Amy Winehouse and Adele from the list. Forget their contributions to the “blue-eyed soul” movement; these girls can BLOW, period. What is even more scandalous is that both Winehouse and Adele bring more soul and raw emotion than today’s top American R&B singers.

As graduates of the school of legendary singers Etta James, Lauryn Hill and Mary J. Blige, both singers transcend geographic barriers with their vulnerable songs of heartbreak, inner-turmoil and depression that people all over the globe have clutched on to. But when the two are compared, which English chanteuse reigns supreme?

Estelle in Alexander McQueen head-to-toe. Of  her new look and new hair, I approve.  Anyone else misses her music besides me?

As I am one who appreciates those  that strive to inspire and let their artistic integrity reign supreme, what I am not fond of is an album cover that tries so desperately to be powerful. From the font which screams Wild Wild West, the mind puzzling stripes, the make-up, the styling ,and that lifeless expression-it  all comes together to create what could be Chrisette Michele’s worst career move yet.

*dramatics aside* somebody needs to explain why this is?? She’s such a talent, such a voice and a unique presence, yet she continues to do a disservice to herself  both musically and image-wise.

After Soul brought this amazing clip to my attention, it has become a daily staple. Taken from the most recent season of BET’s hit gospel series Sunday Best, LeAndria Johnson’s dynamic performance of the classic “Running Back To You” can be appreciated by believers and non-believers alike. Johnson’s monstrous and multi-faceted voice convey the power and emotion behind the lyrics perfectly. If you are need of encouragement or empowerment, this is for you.

Obviously Cassie looks AMAZING. The fur, dress, belt, and bondage inspired wedges all come together perfectly and yet again Cassie appears as we have come to expect these days-flawless.  That green coloring on the shoulders is everything. It takes this outfit to orbit.

BTW she was attending Kim Kardashian’s party, she clearly showed her up…
